Teacher Education Programmes
EdUHK is one of the teacher education providers in Hong Kong. Graduates of the University’s teacher education programmes are eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers. For registration as a teacher, graduates should approach the Teacher Registration Team of the Education Bureau (EDB) to submit applications directly. All applications will be independently assessed by the EDB which will consider, among other things, whether an applicant has been convicted of any criminal offence (including sex-related offences) in Hong Kong or elsewhere, or is involved in any ongoing criminal proceedings or investigations. Normal Period of Studies: 5 Years
^ Students admitted into this programme are normally assigned a focus of study (i.e. primary or secondary level) by the end of their first year of study. The focus of study will be reflected in the arrangements for their Field Experience and adopted for the purpose of application for Registered Teacher in Hong Kong upon graduation. This programme is designed to provide students with the disciplinary and professional competency to teach in both primary and secondary schools. However, recognition of Registered Teacher in primary or secondary schools in Hong Kong is subject to the decision of the Education Bureau (EDB). Graduates of this programme are required to approach the Teacher Registration Team of the EDB to submit applications directly and all applications will be independently assessed by the EDB.

Remarks
- Senior year admissions are mainly for final year students / graduates with local Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications.
- Eligible non-local students with local sub-degree qualifications will also be considered for Senior Year Admissions on a competitive basis. Non-local applicants will be admitted outside the overall quota for local applicants. Therefore, the recruitment of non-local students will have no negative impact on local students.
- Non-local applicants who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree programme at a recognised non-local university will be considered for Senior Year Admissions on an individual basis. They may be required to provide a "Report for Qualifications Assessment" issued by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications to support their applications.
Notes on Specific Programmes (not applicable to JUPAS applicants)

- Applicants for Music and Visual Arts related programmes are required to submit a portfolio (including professional certificates in music / arts, video clips of music performance, photos of their artworks, etc.) to the online application system for our consideration. They may be invited to submit a demo reel, complete a practical test or attend an audition.
- Students should have possessed a good command of Chinese (including Cantonese / Putonghua). Waiver of the Chinese Language requirement will not be granted.
- The admission interview for local applicants will be conducted in Cantonese. The information is tentative and for reference only. Selected candidates must refer to the email notification for the latest interview arrangements.
- Most of the Major courses will be taught in Cantonese (supplemented by English and Putonghua).
- Applicants should possess a certain level of skills in different sports, including athletics, ball games, gymnastics, swimming, racket games and dance, etc.
- Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and fluently in Cantonese and English.
- Applicants applying for the 5-year full-time teacher-education programmes are required to have an online referee report completed on the online application system.
