Programme Introduction

The BA(DCCC) programme offers a wide range of courses to emphasise the intersections of Chinese language and culture with media, creative arts and digital literacy, enabling students to develop an integrated knowledge and sophisticated professional profile to contribute to culture and arts and commercial and economic sectors (i.e. creative industries, tourism and retail industry, intellectual property services). Students will gain hands-on experience with digital tools for language applications, which will empower them to develop creative digital contents for language learning and teaching, produce and publish innovative and engaging contents in digital media, and apply digital tools in the field of Chinese communication.

Notes:
(1) Classes will be held in Tai Po Campus and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Sports Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre as decided by the University. 
(2) Students admitted into this programme are required to visit the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and/or other parts of Mainland China. The programme may also require students to participate in other non-local learning experience for completion of the programme. While the visits are subsidised, students are required to contribute part of the estimated cost of the visits ("students’ contribution"), whereas any personal entertainment, meals expenses, travel document fee and personal insurance costs shall be at students’ own expense. The estimated cost of the visits and students’ contribution for students admitted to the coming cohort is yet to be available due to a variety of factors such as inflation of cost of the visits, trip duration, traveling expenses, the exchange rate, etc.

Internship

Students are required to participate in a compulsory internship (3 cps) at the end of Year 3 summer or Year 4 semester one. The Internship aims to enable students to integrate and apply in real-life settings the knowledge and skills gained in their studies. The Internship also prepares students to handle challenges they may encounter in real work situations, and provides opportunities for them to consider their future career directions.

Career Prospects/Professional Recognition

Graduates of the programme can be engaged in Chinese culture and creative curation, advertising, media, journalism, publishing, Chinese education, tourism, arts management, museum work and international trade. These fields require individuals who can handle and analyse data efficiently and effectively from the modern Chinese communication landscape.

Note: As the 2025/26 academic year is the beginning of the 2025/26 - 2027/28 triennium, the programmes to be offered in the 2025-28 triennium with allocation of UGC-funded places are still subject to the Government's approval.
