Important Notes

  1. Other than the application fee, applicants are not required to pay any additional fees during the application process. In addition, please be reminded not to offer any advantage to EdUHK staff and/or any person involving admissions at EdUHK in connection with your application. Otherwise, your action may violate Hong Kong's Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap. 201).

  2. EdUHK does not encourage students to entrust their application to any third party agents and we always contact applicants directly on updates regarding the applications. You must complete and submit your own application and provide your own personal and contact details. Please refer to the official EdUHK channels, such as programme websites and the admission system, for the required information to complete your application.

Who to Apply

We welcome non-local applicants who are seeking admission to our undergraduate programmes with overseas / international qualifications or local qualifications (e.g. HKDSE, Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, Undergraduate Degrees, etc.) For undergraduate programmes, local and non-local applicants are considered under different admission schemes. Applications will be considered with other eligible applicants on a competitive basis under the appropriate admission scheme.

If you hold one of the following documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR, you are regarded as a non-local student for the purpose of admission to our programmes.

  • student visa / entry permit; or
  • visa / entry permit under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG); or
  • dependant visa / entry permit (You were 18 years old or above when you were issued with such visa / entry permit by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR.)

Definition of local and non-local applicants is as listed here. To make direct enquiries on the definition of non-local students, please contact the Education Bureau (EDB) [Email: edbinfo@edb.gov.hk / Fax: (852) 2804 6499].

Prepare For Your Applications

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis which means the sooner you apply, the sooner your application will be assessed. You are strongly advised to submit your application as early as possible.

Guided by the “Education-plus” approach, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) offers students a multidisciplinary learning environment that not only covers teacher education, but also a broad range of disciplines, including Creative Arts and Culture, Humanities and Language Studies, Science, Social Sciences, Technology and Sports.

Please explore our programmes on offer from the Programme List.

A holistic approach will be adopted in assessing applicants’ admissibility to our undergraduate programmes based on the overall profile of each applicant.

A list of acceptable non-local qualifications for meeting the general entrance requirements for undergraduate programmes can be found HERE. In addition, applicants are also required to fulfill the language requirements as accepted by the University.

Entrance scholarship will be granted automatically to outstanding applicants who obtain excellent academic results and demonstrate outstanding performance in admission interviews. In this regard, no separate application for scholarship is required.

Submit Your Applications

Applicants should apply through the Online Application System.

Please read the application guide before completing the online application as the guide contains important information and guidelines that will assist you in completing and submitting your application step-by-step.

Each non-local applicant can submit applications for a maximum of two programme choices by paying an application fee of HK$300. To facilitate the admission process, applicants are required to indicate their first programme preference via the online application system. The application fee (i.e. HK$300) will be charged for the first preference. The fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable. Priority of consideration for admission will be given to the first programme choice.

To facilitate preliminary assessment, please upload the following academic qualifications and relevant supporting documents (if any) to the application system for consideration. Credentials, which are not in English or Chinese, must each be accompanied by a certified translation in English.

  • Copies of Passport / National ID card, Visa and/or travel documents
  • School reports in the last three academic years
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Public exam result certificates
  • Predicted grades

The supporting documents should be uploaded directly to your online application account. The original copy of academic certificates, official transcripts are not required at the application stage. Please do not send any original certificates to the University in any circumstances as the University will not be responsible for any documents mislaid.

Your application will remain incomplete until we receive all the necessary supporting materials. Due to system limitations, the maximum capacity of your upload files is 25MB in total whereas the maximum size for each file is 4MB.

Please submit your application online and pay the application fee (i.e. HK$300) online using a Visa / Mastercard credit card / UnionPay via our Online Application System at the time of submission. Or you may refer to the "Other Payment Methods" for alternative ways of paying your application fee.

The fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable unless the programme in question is cancelled by the University.

After Submitting Your Applications

Upon successful submission of your application, you will receive an application acknowledgement by email which contains your Application Number and Choice of Programme. Please quote your Application Number in all communications with the University.

Please make sure that you have included all relevant qualifications with supporting materials (e.g. academic transcripts, public examination results, etc.) uploaded (electronic or scanned copy) onto the system. You can upload updated supporting material whenever it becomes available via the online application system after submitting your applications.

Eligible applicants may be requested to attend interviews for further assessment. Shortlisted applicants will receive individual notifications by email. Applicants are strongly advised to check their personal emails regularly in order to receive any updates or interview invitations from the University.

It is therefore important that the email address you provided is correct and up-to-date. Please login your online application account to update your email address and contact phone number when changes occur. Applicants are strongly advised to use the email address that is registered in our Online Application System for communication with the University.

Successful applicants will be notified by email. They are required to log into their online application account to download the offer letter. No hardcopy of the offer letter will be sent by post.

If your application is successful, please read through the offer letter and the attached documents carefully before making a decision about accepting the offer.  If you wish to accept the offer, you must complete the offer acceptance procedures including online acceptance of offer and full payment of a non-refundable admission acceptance fee by the stipulated deadline.

Upon acceptance of the admission offer, applicants who receive a conditional offer should also provide additional documentation certifying the fulfilment of the offer condition(s) before the deadline indicated in the offer letter.

To formally register as a student, successful applicants are required to make arrangements for the University to receive the official academic records (from the issuing authority, school/exam body) as soon as they become available and well before your arrival in Hong Kong.
