Programme Introduction
The BA(DCCC) & BEd(CL) is a cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme with two majors, namely Discipline Studies Major and Education Major, which aims to equip students with the disciplinary competency, professional competency, digital literacy skills, and the professional conduct and ethics required of teachers. These competencies are essential for teaching Chinese Language in both primary and secondary schools or for engaging in other professions that require in-depth knowledge and skills in Chinese Language Studies with digital communication skills. Graduates of this programme will receive two degrees and will be eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers in Hong Kong.

Notes:
(1) Classes will be held in Tai Po Campus and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Sports Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre as decided by the University.
(2) Students admitted into this programme are required to visit the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and/or other parts of Mainland China. The programme may also require students to participate in other non-local learning experience for completion of the programme. While the visits are subsidised, students are required to contribute part of the estimated cost of the visits ("students’ contribution"), whereas any personal entertainment, meals expenses, travel document fee and personal insurance costs shall be at students’ own expense. The estimated cost of the visits and students’ contribution for students admitted to the coming cohort is yet to be available due to a variety of factors such as inflation of cost of the visits, trip duration, traveling expenses, the exchange rate, etc.
(3) Starting from the 2024/25 cohort, students admitted to the full-time Bachelor of Education and Double Degree programmes are required to fulfil the “Exit Requirements for Teachers’ Professional Conduct and Ethics”, which consists of three components: 1) Fulfilment of assessment requirements of Field Experience; 2) Satisfactory completion of two required courses related to Teachers’ Professional Conduct and Ethics; 3) Fulfilment of relevant co-curricular requirement.
(4) Students admitted to this programme are required to participate in a compulsory Immersion Programme. While Immersion Programmes are heavily subsidised, local students are required to contribute no less than 18% of the best estimated cost of the Immersion Programmes ("students’ contribution"). Non-local students are also required to contribute no less than 18% of the best estimated cost of the Immersion Programmes ("students’ contribution").
Field Experience
Field experience (FE) is a core domain in both the pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) which aims to support students to develop the graduate attributes of the University, i.e., Professional Excellence, Ethical Responsibilities and Innovation (PEER &I), and to nurture them to be outstanding and caring educators and professionals who contribute constructively to sustainable social and economic development in Hong Kong and beyond. Career Prospects/Professional Recognition
In addition to the education sector, graduates of the programme can engage in Chinese culture and creative curation, advertising, media, journalism, publishing, tourism, arts management, museum work, and international trade. Graduates will possess the necessary skills to excel in these areas, equipped with a solid foundation in Chinese language and culture, as well as digital literacy skills tailored for related jobs.
Note: Students admitted into this programme are normally assigned a focus of study (i.e. primary or secondary level) by the end of their first year of study. The focus of study will be reflected in the arrangements for their Field Experience and adopted for the purpose of application for Registered Teacher in Hong Kong upon graduation. This programme is designed to provide students with the disciplinary and professional competency to teach in both primary and secondary schools. However, recognition of Registered Teacher in primary or secondary schools in Hong Kong is subject to the decision of the Education Bureau (EDB). Graduates of this programme are required to approach the Teacher Registration Team of the EDB to submit applications directly and all applications will be independently assessed by the EDB.
