Background

The EdUHK Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme is designed for JUPAS applicants with exceptional potential and outstanding talent in music, sports, STEAM or visual arts. Applicants can submit their self-nominations for admission to the related JUPAS programmes of the University.

Applicants shortlisted by the respective subject departments will be interviewed in February or June. Candidates with excellent performance in the interview(s) will be given priority of admission, if deemed appropriate.

Nomination Criteria (2025 Entry)

JUPAS applicants can submit their self-nominations via the online form. To be eligible for admission interviews, applicants should meet the following criteria:

Music Major

JUPAS Programme Choice

Eligibility 

  1. Put the relevant programme(s) as Band A choice(s) in JUPAS application;
  2. Obtain high performance standard in music with relevant qualifications, experiences and achievements;
  3. Recommended by relevant associations/ organisations/ schools (optional but preferable).

(Qualifications, awards and achievements in other creative arts such as dance, visual arts etc. will be considered as an advantage for BA(CDA) applicants.)

Physical Education / Sports Related Major

JUPAS Programme Choice

Eligibility

  1. Put the relevant programme(s) as Band A choice in JUPAS application;
  2. Demonstrate high sports performance standard in a major sport, such as:
    • Elite athlete in the Hong Kong Sports Institute
    • Current/former Hong Kong National Squad member
    • Current Hong Kong Junior Squad member
    • Outstanding Student athlete in the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation
    • Outstanding Student athlete in the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong
  3. Recommended by Hong Kong Sports Institute, Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, or other recognised Sports Associations/ Schools.

Sports Scholarship for BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) (JS8010)

  1. Annual scholarship of HK$10,000 to HK$44,500 for a maximum tenure of 5 years will be awarded to selected students of BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) upon recommendation by the interview panel.
  2. Hostel accommodation fee will be waived in year 1 subject to availability of hostel place and recommendation by the interview panel.
  3. The renewal of scholarships and/or hostel accommodation fee waiver^ are subject to the conditions given below.

Sports Scholarships renewal conditions
- A good GPA;
- Good performance in sports events organized by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK);
- Good progress in sport training; and
- Contributions to sports development on campus and beyond as an ambassador.
- Recipients may concurrently receive other scholarships or subsidies. The total amount of scholarships/subsidies awarded for each recipient should not exceed the annual programme tuition fee of the year in accordance with the University’s policy.

^Note: To be eligible for hostel accommodation fee waiver in year 2 and thereafter, scholarship recipients are required to fulfill the Sports Scholarships renewal conditions and successfully get a hostel place in the respective year. 

STEAM Related Major

JUPAS Programme Choice

Eligibility

  1. Put the relevant programme(s) as Band A choice(s) in JUPAS application;
  2. Obtain high performance standard in respective STEAM areas with relevant achievements;
  3. Recommended by relevant associations/ organisations/ schools (optional but preferable).

*For BSc(IEM)&BEd(SCI), Chemistry major will be offered in 2025/26.

Visual Arts Major

JUPAS Programme Choice

Eligibility

  1. Put the relevant programme(s) as Band A choice(s) in JUPAS application;
  2. Obtain high performance standard in visual arts with relevant qualifications, experiences and achievements;
  3. Recommended by relevant associations/ organisations/ schools (optional but preferable).

(Qualifications, awards and achievements in other creative arts such as dance, visual arts etc. will be considered as an advantage for BA(CDA) applicants.)

Nomination Methods

Please read through the nomination criteria of the chosen programme(s) and complete the online form(s) according to the instructions. Before submitting application(s), please make sure that:

  1. You have put the relevant programme(s) as your Band A choice(s) in JUPAS application; and
  2. You have prepared and uploaded ALL relevant supporting documents in ONE PDF file (maximum of 15MB) including:
    • Proof(s) of the achievements in music/ sports/ STEAM/ visual arts;
    • A personal statement; and
    • Recommendation letter(s) from relevant organisations/ associations/ schools.

Nomination Period (2025 Entry)

  1. The 2nd Round self-nomination deadline will be on 28 May 2025.
  2. Selected applicants will be invited to admission interviews in February or June 2025. Please click here to learn more about the interview schedules. If an applicant has not been invited to the interview(s) in the above-mentioned period, he/she should NOT assume that his/her JUPAS application is not being considered.
  3. However, if the selected applicants do not attend the interview(s) in February or June which are specially arranged for them but attend the interview(s) with other applicants after the release of HKDSE examination results in July, they will no longer enjoy the privilege of admission priority given by the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme.

Probity Requirements
Other than the application fee, applicants are not required to pay any additional fees during the application process. Please be reminded not to offer any advantage to any EdUHK staff, officer, employee, and/or any person involved in the admission process at EdUHK in connection with any application. Otherwise, you may commit serious criminal offences under Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap. 201 of the laws of Hong Kong), which is punishable by imprisonment.

Making, submitting or using any false instrument (including forged documents) are serious criminal offences under the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200 of the laws of Hong Kong). A person committing the offences relating to forgery or false instruments is liable on conviction on indictment to imprisonment. The University shall consider the relevant evidence and report suspicious cases to the Hong Kong Police. The University reserves the right to take appropriate legal actions against persons who make, forge or use a false instrument for admission and any other academic purposes before, during and after the admission process.
