Application Deadline

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, subject to the availability of space. You are therefore advised to apply as early as possible. Late applications may also be accepted if there are still seats available, but priority of admission will be given to applications received by the deadline of the main round application.

Before you submit an application, please read the programme entrance requirements to see if you are eligible to apply. In general, applicants should have obtained a Higher Diploma / Associate Degree or equivalent. Please refer to individual programme information page for details.

Submission of Application

Applicants must submit their applications via the Online Application System. The University does not accept paper applications. You should read the Online Application - Guided Tour before submitting your application.

Please note that part-time Top-up degree programmes accept both local and non-local applicants. For the definition of local/non-local students, please refer to here.

To facilitate preliminary assessment, please upload the following academic qualifications and relevant supporting documents (if any) to the Online Application System:

  • full transcripts (an unofficial transcript can be accepted at the time of application, but an official transcript is required upon enrollment)
  • certificates
  • language test results and other supporting documents (if any)

Your application will remain incomplete until we have received all the necessary supporting materials. Due to system limitations, the maximum capacity of your upload files is 25MB in total whereas the maximum size of each file is 4MB.

If you graduated from EdUHK in 1995 or afterwards, you do not need to submit your academic transcript(s) and certificate(s) which were awarded by the EdUHK, but are required to authorize us to extract and use your records of studies to process your application when you submit an application online. For qualifications obtained in other universities or institutions, submissions of transcript(s) and certificate(s) are required.

Please do not send any original certificates to the University in any circumstances as we will not be responsible for any documents mislaid. However, original documents of the qualifications stated in the application must be presented for verification before registration. Failure to do so shall lead to disqualification of the application and any offer made will be rescinded. Submitted documents will not be returned. All supporting documents of unsuccessful applications will be destroyed at the end of the admission exercise.

Applicants who have attended international institutions whose transcripts are in a language other than Chinese or English must submit those transcripts with officially certified English translations.

Application fee for local applicants and non-local applicants is HK$150 and HK$300 respectively which is non-refundable and non-transferable unless the programme, subject or class chosen is cancelled by the University.

Please pay the application fee online using a Visa / Mastercard credit card / UnionPay / Alipay / WeChat Pay via our Online Application System at the time of submission of the application. If you are not able to pay online, you may choose to pay the fee by Bank Deposits or Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). You may find the details in the Online Application System.

Upon successful submission of the application, you will receive an acknowledgement email.

After Submitting Your Applications

Upon successful submission of your application, you will receive an application acknowledgement by email which contains your Application Number and Choice of Programme. Please quote your Application Number in all communications with the University.

Please make sure that you have included all relevant qualifications with supporting materials uploaded (electronic or scanned copy) onto the system. You can upload updated supporting material whenever it becomes available via the Online Application System after submitting your applications.

You will be informed of your application status, such as application acknowledgement, interview arrangements, admission offer, registration etc., via your personal email. No letters will be posted unless in very exceptional circumstances. You are strongly advised to check your personal emails and online application account regularly in order to receive any updates from the University.

It is therefore important that the email address you provided is correct and up-to-date. Please login your online application account to update your email address and contact phone number when changes occur. Applicants are strongly advised to use the email address that is registered in our Online Application System for communication with the University.

Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend interviews / tests to assess their suitability for admission to the programme, they will receive individual notification by email. However, an applicant who has not been invited to an interview / test shall not assume that he / she is not being considered for admission. Some applicants may receive a direct offer without admission interview / test.

Early admission offers may be given to highly qualified applicants. These applicants will be informed of the admission result individually by email. Applicants who are not offered early admission shall not assume that they are not being considered for admission. Please check your personal email and your online application account regularly for the progress of your application.

The selection process is normally completed by the end of August. Since on-going admission interviews / tests are arranged throughout the process, applicants are advised to wait until its completion at the end of August, and may only assume their applications to be unsuccessful if they are not admitted by that date. No individual notifications will be sent to unsuccessful applicants and waitlisted applicants.

After you accepted our admission offer, you are required to apply for official transcripts to be sent directly to the University from the issuing authorities (except qualifications obtained from EdUHK and final year students) for programme registration. Please note that your uploaded transcript on our Online Application System are not considered as official.

New students are not required to perform programme registration in person unless in very exceptional circumstances. After all the documents are verified, the University will perform programme registration for you. You will receive a confirmation email containing your student number after programme registration is completed in late July – August.

Please note that provision of any false or misleading information will lead to DISQUALIFICATION of application. The University reserves the right to revoke your admission offer if we do not receive your official academic document(s) for verification. Any deposit or fees paid will be forfeited.

Submission of official academic documents

Making, submitting or using any false instrument (including forged documents) are serious criminal offences under the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200 of the laws of Hong Kong). A person committing the offences relating to forgery or false instruments is liable on conviction on indictment to imprisonment. The University shall consider the relevant evidence and report suspicious cases to the Hong Kong Police. The University reserves the right to take appropriate legal actions against persons who make, forge or use a false instrument for admission and any other academic purposes before, during and after the admission process.

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer may be granted to students in recognition of their prior learning experiences. Students may submit an application within the first two weeks of each semester or one week before the commencement of the summer semester.

Cancellation of Programme / Subject / Class

The University reserves the right to cancel any programme(s) / subject(s) / class(es) in which case all fees paid will be refunded.

Applicants with Disabilities

The University is committed to making reasonable adjustments to enable students with disabilities to participate fully in student life. To allow us to provide sufficient study support, applicants with disabilities are requested to provide information about the nature or degree of their disability via our online application system. 

Their applications will be assessed in the same manner as those of others, namely, on the basis of academic and professional qualifications, work experience, non-academic achievements, and performance in the interview and/or subject test (if applicable).

Double Registration

Students enrolled in any full-time award bearing programmes (lasting for one year or longer) of the University should not simultaneously register for or study for another qualification at this University or a post-secondary qualification at another institution, except with prior approval of the University. Students in breach of this regulation may be subject to discontinuation of studies at this University. In case of doubt, please seek advice from the Registry.

Right of Access to and Correction of Information

In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, applicants have the right of access to and correction of the information contained in their applications, and the right to request a copy of such data. If you wish to do so, you may submit your request in writing to the Admissions, Registrations and Academic Planning Section of the Registry.

EdUHK is one of the teacher education providers in Hong Kong. Graduates of the University’s teacher education programmes are eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers. For registration as a teacher, graduates should approach the Teacher Registration Team of the Education Bureau (EDB) to submit applications directly. All applications will be independently assessed by the EDB which will consider, among other things, whether an applicant has been convicted of any criminal offence (including sex-related offences) in Hong Kong or elsewhere, or is involved in any ongoing criminal proceedings or investigations. Probity Requirements: Other than the application fee, applicants are not required to pay any additional fees during the application process. Please be reminded not to offer any advantage to any EdUHK staff, officer, employee, and/or any person involved in the admission process at EdUHK in connection with any application. Otherwise, you may commit serious criminal offences under Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap. 201 of the laws of Hong Kong), which is punishable by imprisonment.

In the event of inconsistency between information in English and Chinese versions or where an interpretation of the programme content is required, the decision of the University shall be final.
