Programme Aims

Upon completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key personal, policy, and organizational factors that influence educational innovation by applying established theoretical frameworks and key models of educational innovation to assess their impact on school-based change initiatives.
  • Examine and analyze structural, cultural, and psychological barriers to innovation in schools, evaluating their systemic roots through empirical research and theoretical perspectives.
  • Apply leadership skills to drive interdisciplinary curricular and pedagogical innovation, fostering collaboration among teachers.
  • Develop sustainable frameworks for cooperating, curating, and sharing disciplinary and cross-disciplinary instructional resources, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and professional learning communities.
  • Adapt and reflect on innovation theories and practices to diverse school contexts, employing diagnostic tools to design equitable and context-sensitive solutions.

Programme Structure

This programme consists of one three credit-point course (39 hours), made up of face-to-face lessons and independent study designed for facilitating such tasks as blended learning, project-based learning, workshops, group discussions, library search or group work preparation ensuring a practical and interactive learning experience.

The programme is structured into six key modules designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead and sustain innovation in educational settings. These modules include the sections titled as following:

  • Introduction to Collaboration and Innovation in Education;
  • Exploring Models of Collaboration for Innovation and Improvement;
  • Strategies for Effective Leadership of and for Collaboration;
  • Practical Application: Designing Change Initiatives/ Innovations;
  • Evaluation and Continuous Improvement, and
  • Culminating Task.

Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion, demonstrating their ability to lead interdisciplinary pedagogical and curricular innovations through effective collaboration.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction is English.

Entrance Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants should be: 

  • in-service Principals, and Vice Principals, Panel Heads, Curriculum Leaders (PSMCD), English Panel Chairs/ Vice-Chairs, NETs (Native English Teachers), LETs (Local English Teachers) in Primary and Secondary Schools; and
  • recommended by school principals.

Remark:
All applicants should be recommended by school principals (except the school principal himself/ herself).

Award

To be awarded a Certificate of Completion, participants must obtain a pass in all assessment tasks required and successfully fulfill the attendance requirements as stipulated by the programme. 

Other Information

Participants who complete our PDPs are eligible to apply for credit transfer if they enroll in our postgraduate programmes. Their applications will be considered on an individual basis.

Remarks: Each school can recommend more than one teacher.

Making, submitting or using any false instrument (including forged documents) are serious criminal offences under the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200 of the laws of Hong Kong). A person committing the offences relating to forgery or false instruments is liable on conviction on indictment to imprisonment. The University shall consider the relevant evidence and report suspicious cases to the Hong Kong Police. The University reserves the right to take appropriate legal actions against persons who make, forge or use a false instrument for admission and any other academic purposes before, during and after the admission process.

In the event of inconsistency between information in English and Chinese versions or where an interpretation of the programme content is required, the decision of the University shall be final.
