Programme Aims
This PDP aims to equip early childhood educators with the capabilities to engage children in multiple senses learning experiences to explore the natural world and real-life experiences with curiosity and exploratory spirit. Moreover, different approaches to connect children with nature will be explored to foster the values and attitudes to love nature. Participants also understand how to review children’s performance and incorporate nature into the school-based curriculum to prepare children with the skills for exploration and investigation to prepare the age-appropriate inquiry skills for transiting to primary school.
Programme Structure
The programme consists of one 3-credit-point course with a total of 39 hours.
This course will focus on:
- Apply the practice principles to design multiple senses learning experience for children to explore the natural environment;
- Demonstrate effective approaches to guide children to appreciate and protect nature;
- Review the engagement of children with nature; and
- Incorporate nature into the school-based curriculum.
Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction is mainly Chinese (Cantonese) and will be supplemented by English where appropriate.

Entrance Requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants should be:
- in-service teachers currently working in a local preschool; and
- recommended by their school principals.
Award
To be awarded a Certificate of Completion, participants must obtain a pass in all assessment tasks required and successfully fulfill the attendance and/or assessment requirements as stipulated by the programme.
Other Information
Participants who complete our PDPs are eligible to apply for credit transfer if they enroll in our postgraduate programmes. Their applications will be considered on an individual basis.
