Yes, you should apply through either JUPAS or Direct Application (non-JUPAS) route.

Yes, we will consider equivalent qualifications other than HKDSE results such as GCE/GCSE results, local and non-local post-secondary qualifications on an individual basis.

Degree holders may apply for admission to our one-year full-time PGDE(ECE). However, if you are a serving kindergarten teacher and holding a recognised degree, you may consider applying for our two-year part-time PGDE(ECE).

We offer the following top-up BEd(ECE) programmes aimed at providing opportunity for sub-degree kindergarten or early childhood education graduates to upgrade their qualification to degree level:

  1. Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) (Three-year Part-time)
  2. Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) in Leadership and Non-Chinese Speaking Children (Four-year Part-time)
  3. Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) in Leadership and Special Needs (Four-year Part-time)

No, all of our part-time ECE programmes are designed for in-service kindergarten teachers. Hence, you should apply for our full-time programme. Students having financial hardship may apply for financial assistance.

Some applicants for the full-time programmes may be shortlisted for admission interviews/tests, normally between January and August. Not all applicants for the part-time programmes will be interviewed. An applicant who has not been invited to an interview/test shall not assume that he/she is not being considered for admission. Shortlisted applicants will be notified individually. You may also check the Interview Schedule on www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/.

You may check the admission schedule on www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/. Successful applicants will receive individual notification by e-mail or post.

Most of our early childhood education programmes are conducted in Chinese (Cantonese) but English or Putonghua is adopted as the language of instruction for relevant courses, as deemed appropriate. Therefore, applicants are expected to possess a high proficiency in Chinese, both spoken and written, and an acceptable level of English. For non-Chinese speaking applicants, the University may consider offering English stream in our PGDE(ECE) and top-up BEd(ECE) programmes on condition that we can have sufficient number of applicants to form a viable class size.

We are offering several postgraduate programmes specialised in the area of Early Childhood Education which aim for applicants who have a recognised bachelor’s degree or above.  Please visit our postgraduate programme webpage: www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/postgrad/ for details.
